The Reality

You’re responsible for a lot.

Student progress.
Team collaboration.
Difficult conversations.
High-stakes decisions.

You teach regulation.
You support communication.
You build resilience.

But in the middle of the pressure, who is helping you lead yourself?

Because before the strategies…
Before the meetings…
Before the interventions…

There is you.

The Framework

The Unconventional Team Workbook

A confidence-first approach to identity, regulation, communication, and collaboration.

This framework helps school-based professionals stop doing the work backwards — and start by empowering who they are, how they regulate, and how they communicate.

When adults are aligned, teams function better.

When teams function better, students thrive.

This is the work before the work.

Meet Treva

In 2019, I walked out of a school building for what I thought was the last time.

Twenty-five years in. Burned out. Bored. Running on empty in a way that no amount of professional development, no new strategy, no behavior plan, and no IEP framework could fix.

So I left.

I wrote a book. I built a speaking and coaching career. I did some things I am really proud of.

But that pull — that quiet, persistent pull back to the work — never left.

So I told myself something that changed everything.

If I go back — I go back differently. Not the traditional way. The unconventional way.

And when I looked at my role through that lens — something inside of me cracked open. Something that needed to come out. Needed to be said. Needed to be created and shared with every SLP, OT, PT, educator, and school leader who has ever felt exactly the way I felt walking out that door in 2019.

I am Treva Graves.

I am an Unconventional SLP.

And the work before the work — it starts right here.

Welcome. 💛 I’m so glad you’re here.

What Changes When We Stop Doing the Work Backwards

When professionals are equipped with the right mindset and capacity, the impact is felt across teams, schools and systems.

  • Stronger, more aligned teams

  • Clear and confident communication

  • Reduced burnout and overwhelm

  • Greater clarity in decision-making

This is how sustainable, meaningful change happens.
